Baby Elliot Et Costume
Most would agree Steven Spielberg's ET: The Extra-Terrestrial still holds up almost 25 years after its debut.

Across popular culture, its impact is still remembered for launching Drew Barrymore's career, the iconic Speak & Spell maths computer, and of course, we can't forget Reese's Pieces.
While it's not strictly a Halloween film, one of the most memorable scenes from the film (at least for us!) is when Elliott's (Henry Thomas), older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton) and the lovable ET, posing as Barrymore's character Gertie, hit the streets for some trick-or-treating.
If you need to jog your memory, the awesome scene is right here:
The moment serves as a pivotal plot point in the film – and mainly because the siblings aren't really all that interested in collecting candy at all.
Instead, it's their Halloween disguises that allow ET to sneak away undiscovered from suburbia and into the woods, where he's able to 'phone home'.
So, in celebration of the phenomenal movie, here's our ranking of the best Halloween outfits from ET…
7. Yoda
Given the Star Wars machine shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, the Yoda costume makes our list at number seven for its enduring appeal.
When ET is out on the street with Michael and Elliott, all is well until a Yoda distracts our favourite alien and his cover is nearly blown.
Creating the costume:
This one is pretty straight forward, with the distinctive mask of Luke Skywalker's mentor, combined with a brown tunic, and a lightsaber if you can rustle one up.
6. Amish Dog and Sailor Duck
This costume combo, suitable for partners/friends/loved ones gets a notable mention for its creepiness – although it was not enough to distract ET or Elliott.
Creating the costume:
For Sailor Duck, all you'll need is a dark blue navy sailor's outfit – readily available from most good costume shops – which is then completed with a plastic rubber ducky mask.
In a similar vein, the Amish Dog look requires a blue traditional cloak with a white collar, and cap (think Disney's Pollyanna), and finished off with a full-face dog mask.
5. Zombie Doctor and Clown Dog
Passing ET in a hurry, the street's resident doctor is clearly late for an appointment – but comes in at number five for his ability to stay in character.
Creating the costume:
If you have a pet pooch, this ensemble's for you. Simply put together a doctor's lab coat, wrap a stethoscope around your neck.
For the hair and makeup, you will need to find a mullet-length wig, put on a dab of grey foundation, sort some white contact lenses and a lick of blood, and you're just about done.
Now your poor dog doesn't need to undergo much at all – all you need is a party hat, preferably with a pom-pom on top and you'll be all set.
4. Elliott's Mum goes feline
We reckon Elliott's mother's feline costume deserves a number four ranking for its sass and spark.
Creating the costume:
If your own mum was parenting in the eighties, she might have this one somewhere in her wardrobe.
Dee Wallace is dressed for Halloween in a leopard print skirt and top, matched with a chunky gold belt.
Alongside a curly blonde wig, add a pair of cat ears, continuing the leopard motif, and a black eye mask (just to maintain some mystery).
3. Michael's Hobo-Lumberjack look
We think Michael's Hobo look should make number three for its realistic effect – even we were a little worried.
Creating the costume:
Another reasonably easy look to pull off, it's basically a black t-shirt and army camouflage trousers, finished with over-the-top black face paint to create a cartoonish five-o-clock shadow look. The centrepiece to Michael's costume is the mock knife, which looks like it's pierced his skull, finished off with a blonde wig and black bowler hat.
2. Zombie Elliott
What is Halloween without zombies? We've brought Elliott's outfit in at number two for capturing the undead spirit perfectly.
Creating the costume:
Also reasonably easy to pull off, Elliott's zombie costume is basically a grey hoodie, a dark grey cloak, and a dark backpack.
The face makeup is basically grey-black face paint, with red applied to the base of the eyes, and completed with a brown wig.
1. ET's Trick-Or-Treating disguise
We've given ET the number one ranking because its simplicity is GENIUS (And he's also the star of the show). It's the most iconic look of the lot and you'd be hard pressed to find a better Halloween look this year!
Creating the costume:
If you're really strapped for time and cash, and you're about 5" in height, this ET number is going to really suit.
It's basically a bed sheet, with two holes cut in the front for eyes, and the look is completed with a pair of clown shoes. Classic.
Hopefully these awesome Halloween ideas will spark the imagination come this weekend's Halloween partaying!
